She had entered through the back door the old store empty of any life forms, just the pages whispering the stories held in their bindings. Stories of love, hate, science, mystery all tyring to gain her attention, screaming to be picked up. "Poor souls." Mercy whispered.
She lowered herself lifting a leather bound volume, the title hidden under the dust. Its words were soft in her ears as she opened the pages to reveal an old story of the greek goddess Athena. Mercys pale eyes read and she leaned again the bookshelf to read, enjoying the silence of the old store.
"Are you enjoying the story?" a soft voice whispered causing mercy to look up to the ghostly figure of the older woman who rested at the desk. "Yes madam I do enjoy this tale. Where you the owner of this beautiful place?" she asked knowing the answer and smiled closing the book. But as she went to put it back she saw she was alone again with the feeling to make herself at home so she opened the book again to read in the silence as a light rain began to fall the scent filling her senses.
